This digital illustration is my creative response to the poem Two Scavengers in a Truck Two Beautiful People in a Mercedes. The poem displays themes of class inequality, poverty and the falsehood of the 鈥楢merican Dream鈥�. The poem, with its themes of financial struggle and inequality, inspired me to undertake some research about poverty in America. I found a 2017 Report 鈥淲orking for the Mouse: A Survey of Disneyland Employees,鈥� which surveyed 5,000 employees at Southern California Disneyland park. The survey revealed the depressing nature of working at 鈥渢he happiest place on earth鈥�. The illustration conveys the false nature of the modern 鈥楢merican dream鈥�. The illustration was created using Procreate.
